Understanding your Circadian Rhythm.

A Circadian rhythm is a roughly 24-hour cycle in the biochemical, physiological or behavioral processes of living entities, including Humans.

Did you know that we all have an internal biological clock that sets our days and nights into a cyclical rhythm. Our Biological Clock is controlled by a series of hormones and external cues such as darkness and daylight.

Our internal clock is commonly referred to as our Circadian Rhythm and when we work in concert with our clock we can maximize our energy reserves during our waking times and increase our restorative sleeping times.

Disruption to rhythms usually has a negative effect. Many travelers have experienced the condition known as jet lag, with its associated symptoms of fatigue, disorientation and insomnia.

We can set or re-set our biological clock through habit. In other words, we can condition ourselves to be night owls, even when our body may need us to sleep earlier. But here's the good news, we can re-set our clock by gradually changing our sleeping and waking habits.
